Sempre fui um amante do conhecimento. Estar em sala de aula e poder ensinar sempre foi prazeroso e de uma satisfação inenarrável. Decidi pela profissão de professor porque poder ensinar, dividir ensinamentos e conhecimentos me faz um ser humano completo.
Para poder ensinar e fazê-lo bem, é necessário muita dedicação e muito conhecimento. Decidi, então, por fazer vários cursos relacionados ao ensino-aprendizagem de uma língua estrangeira e também por adquirir várias certificações internacionais que atestam meu conhecimento da língua - FCE, CAE e Bulats, , de University of Cambridge, e ECPE, de University of Michigan.
Tendo trabalhado em várias escolas de renome de Brasília, pude aprender um pouco da dinâmica das instituições de ensino de inglês com relação aos professores e os alunos e decidi, após começar a dar aulas particulares, que a melhor forma de prover meu aluno com a melhor estrutrura e um ambiente propício para o aprendizado do inglês seria dando aulas personalizadas. Foi aí quer surgiu o EYE!nglish, em parceria com a Bia Mattos, onde dividimos nossos conhecimentos, nossas experiências e nossas visões de ensino-apredizagem da língua inglesa.
Nosso curso tem dois pilares importantíssimos e que primamos por tais: responsabilidade no ensino da língua e profissionalismo no lidar com o aluno. Após 2 anos de empresa, podemos certamente dizer que fomos e estamos sendo bem sucedidos naquilo que nos propomos a fazer: Ensinar o Inglês com qualidade e com diferencial. Director of Studies
I have always been a lover of knowledge. Being in class and learning from the most qualified teachers have been a great pleasure for me. I derive pleasure from being a student and a teacher, and this passion, along with my own knowledge, are my strengths in teaching English as a Foreign language.
In order to do a great work, it's required competence and knowledge. Competence can be aquired, learnt or born with. Knowledge is built, definitely. A mix of both of them make the LEARNING ENVIRONMENT a successful and unforgettable one. International certificates such as the FCE, CAE, ECPE and Bulats attest my constant reponsibility in advancing in my teaching skills.
I have already presented twice at Braz-Tesol conferences about up-to-date EFL techniques for boosting students interest and performance in class. As far as teaching English as a foreign language is concerned, I am a great believer that English can change people’s mind and lives, and the teacher is the beholder of the strengthen to make the students fall in or out of love with this incredible lingua franca. That's why I decided to set up this company with my delightful and extremelly competent business partner Bia Mattos, to REALLY be able to teach the best way we can.
As far as technology is concerned, developing activities that enhance students’ knowledge of the language is of uttermost importance in my teaching. I am dynamic, competent and very much responsible as well as open-minded and fancy learning and working as a group. I am creative, communicative and self-disciplined. Volunteer Work for an International Cross-Cultural Organisation
CISV (http://www.cisv.org)
CISV is a global community of dedicated volunteers that aims at enriching cultural diversity through educational programmes – summer camps. They are founded on a belief that peace is possible through friendship - and that the real difference can be made by starting with children.
I took part in a SUMMER CAMP in Brazil, with the participation of 9 delegations from 9 different countries, with teenagers aged 15, and the official language of the camp was English. Children and youngsters engaged in a learning process of cooperation and building a social network of tolerance and respect through communicative, creative and trouble-solving activities. I worked as a local staff. |

PROJECTS
Blogging project with students, acknowledging discussions related to international current affairs and development of the students writing skill. The blog was also used for correcting pieces of homework and extra activities. I presented at a Braz-TESOL conference on this subject – www.eyemaster1.wordpress.com is one of my former advanced group blog;
Radio programme in the classroom, boosting students performance and confidence in using the English language in a free and secure environment. It involves all students in a Radio programme-type of show where students can ask the interviewee of the day – a certain student – to chat about his problem – the chosen student has got to build a character on spot, with a different name and an unreal problem. Students in the class ask question to the interviewee, and it goes like this until we reach an agreement on however we could help the interviewee.
Environmental projects, developing and raising students’ awareness of global issues related to the environment and possible solutions to tackle this problem

Eu devo a minha paixão pelo inglês à minha família. Eu me lembro claramente da nossa primeira aula de inglês. Nossa, sim, eu, minha mãe, meu irmão e minha tia, ansiosos pelas aulas. Infelizmente, só eu concluí aquele curso, e este foi um episódio interessante.
Sem saber que carreira seguir, um professor muito querido me disse: Eu quero você aqui, com a gente, ensinando. Aquilo me marcou pra sempre. Na hora do vestibular, Letras Inglês foi a minha escolha. Várias oportunidades surgiram ao longo do curso, mas dar aulas era claramente a melhor delas.
Busquei qualificação e encontrei os certificados de Cambridge. Hoje possuo o CPE, o nível mais alto de acordo com a CEFRL (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Os certificados me abriram portas em algumas escolas, e desde então eu tenho trabalhado em cursos com metodologias diferentes, superando as limitações de cada uma delas, e sempre buscando a melhor. Hoje eu entendo que a melhor metodologia é o melhor de cada uma delas. Fazer com que isso caiba em uma sala de aula é um desafio. E um desafio maior ainda é fazer a mesma abordagem dar certo com tantas pessoas diferentes em grupos tão grandes.
Eu agora entendo que a melhor maneira de ensinar é pensar em quem aprende, e no que ele quer. Acredito que aulas personalizadas são a maneira mais eficaz de unir foco no aluno e sucesso no aprendizado. |

I've been working as a teacher for three years now, and I must say I started by chance. From all the opportunities I had in college, a part-time job as a teacher caught my eye, and I've been passionate about the give and take of teaching ever since.
I admit teaching was not on my mind when people asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up. So, let's say I didn't choose to become a teacher, instead, it chose me. Since 2006, I've worked with some different institutions and their own ways of approaching students and methodologies.
Something I've been able to understand from my experience is that we, teachers, must have at heart that our main goal should always be to enable students to go further, and have the tools to be where they want or need to be. And this is what I think concentrates the beauty of teaching: it's selfless in its essence, since our focus is only on the other person, the student.
As to make sure I am able to provide students with my very best, I have a degree in English language and Literature from the University of Brasília, UnB, and I have taken Cambridge exams from the main suite, CAE and CPE, as well as TKT, which stands for Teaching Knowledge Test. I'm still planning on being a CELTA holder, but that belongs to the future... |

Eu comecei a estudar Inglês aos 12 anos porque queria entender as músicas dos Beatles. Naquela época eu não sabia que me apaixonaria pela Língua Inglesa. Eu estudei no IBEU-Vitória por 6 anos e lá meu professor de Inglês sugeriu que eu e mais três amigos prestássemos Vestibular e foi o que fizemos. Nos tornamos professores de Inglês e começamos a trabalhar imediatamente.
Após a formatura eu fiz um curso de treinamento para professores de Inglês na Filadélfia - Estados Unidos para aprofundar meus conhecimentos. Eu trabalhei em muitos cursos de língua tais como: Skill e CLC - Vitória/ Casa Thomas Jefferson, Cooplem e CNA - Brasília/ Wise Up eTuttori Idiomas - Rio de Janeiro.
Decidi participar do EYE!nglish porque eu acredito no projeto e sei que posso contribuir para o seu sucesso.

I started studying English when I was 12 years old because I wanted the sing The Beatles' songs. By then I had no idea I would totally fall in love with it. I studied at IBEU-Vitória for 6 years and my English teacher told me and 3 other friends to take Vestibular and so we did. We became English teachers and started working right away.
After graduation I took a Teaching Training Course in Philadelphia - US to enhance my knowledge. I've worked in many language courses ever since such as: Skill and CLC - Vitória/ Casa Thomas Jefferson, Cooplem and CNA - Brasília/ Wise Up and Tuttori Idiomas - Rio de Janeiro.
I've decided to join EYE!nglish because I believe in it and also because I know I can contribute to the success of the project.

Eu decidi que seria professora aos 9 anos de idade. Até então eu estava acostumada com um mesmo tipo de professores, um mesmo tipo de aula. Foi quando eu conheci a “tia” Dione. Ela tinha um jeito muito especial de ensinar, que envolvia os alunos de um jeito que eu nunca havia visto, que nos fazia aprender com prazer. Eu decidi naquela época que faria o mesmo. Seria uma professora diferente, dessas que dão aulas agradáveis e focadas no que os alunos querem e precisam.
Comecei a ensinar aos 18 anos e admito que foi o primeiro momento na minha vida em que senti que havia me encontrado. Se eu tivesse que me descrever com uma palavra, acho que seria apaixonada. Sou apaixonada pela educação, pelo inglês, por tudo que envolve ensino e aprendizagem. E como os professores aprendem com seus alunos!
Busco constantemente me manter atualizada e desenvolver meu conhecimento. Me formei em Letras – Inglês (Licenciatura) na Universidade de Brasília em 2004, possuo o CAE (Certificado de Inglês Avançado) e o CPE (Certificado de Proficiência em Inglês) pela Universidade de Cambridge e recentemente adquiri o CELTA (Certificado de Ensino de Inglês para Adultos), também da Universidade de Cambridge, na International House, em Londres.
Tendo trabalhado em várias escolas de renome em Brasília, o EYE!nglish surgiu para mim como uma oportunidade incrível de trabalhar da forma que julgo a mais importante: com o foco no aluno. Poder trabalhar dando aulas personalizadas e com uma equipe de profissionais cuja competência eu admiro é um verdadeiro privilégio.

I decided I was going to be a teacher when I was only nine years old. I had been used to a same type of teacher, a same type of class. That was when I met 'Dione'. She had a very special way of teaching. She engaged her students in a way I had never seen before, she made learning fun. Right then I decided I would do the same. I would be a different teacher, one of those who teach pleasant lessons which focus on the students' needs and interests.
I started teaching at the age of 18, and I must admit it was the first moment in life I felt I had found myself. If I were to describe myself in one word, it would probably be passionate. I am passionate about educations, English, and eveerything that involves learning and teaching. And do I learn from my students!
Keeping my practices up-to-date and developing my knowledge are probably my main concerns. I majored in English Language and Literature – for teaching at the Universade de Brasília in 2004 and I hold the CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) and the CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) from the University of Cambridge. I have also recently obtained the CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) – University of Cambridge at the International House in London.
Having worked at several renowned schools in Brasília, I chose EYE!nglish because of the amazing opportunity to really address each student's interests and needs. It has also been a real privilege for me to have the opportunity to be part of a team of really competent and inspiring professionals.

Aos 6 anos de idade fui passar férias com minha família no litoral do Espírito Santo. Depois de um dia de praia, fomos ao cinema. Como chegamos tarde, só havia a versão com legendas de “Aladdin”, da Disney. Fiquei muito satisfeito com minha capacidade de ler todas aquelas frases que apareciam e sumiam tão rápido. Contudo, perdi muito do que mais me interessava: o desenho. Chegando à casa contei toda a história ao meu pai e concluí dizendo que queria muito aprender inglês para poder entender todos os filmes que veria dali em diante. Ele não titubeou e logo me matriculou na Casa Thomas Jefferson.
Ao mesmo tempo em que o domínio de uma língua tão diferente parecia tão inalcançável, o aprendizado e a superação dos desafios serviam como combustível para sempre seguir em frente.
O interesse pelo inglês e a descoberta do prazer que é ensinar fizeram de mim um professor. Após experiências em cursos convencionais em escolas particulares e em grupos de voluntariado encontrei no EYE!nglish uma maneira de trabalhar de forma mais descontraída, personalizada, prazerosa e eficiente.

When I was around 6 years old, I spent my summer vacation with my family on the coast of Espírito Santo- Brazil. After a day at the beach, we went to the movies. Since we got there a bit late, we could only watch “Aladdin” in its original sound version with subtitles in Portuguese. I got very satisfied with my ability to read all those sentences that show up and vanish so quickly. However, I missed most of what was of my interest: the cartoon itself. As I arrived home I told my father the whole plot and concluded that I wanted to learn English in order to understand the movies I would see from then on. He did not hesitate to enroll me in Casa Thomas Jefferson.
All the while, trying to achieve the excellence of such a different language seemed so unreachable. Nevertheless, learning and overcoming obstacles worked as fuel to go on.
The interest over English and the discovery of the pleasure of educating made me a teacher. After experiencing working at conventional schools and as a volunteer, I found in EYE!nglish a more casual, personalized, pleasing and efficient way to work. |
